The letters were stored in 168 boxes of unpublished poems, manuscripts, photos and other documents that were donated to the Chilean State by Doris Atkinson, niece Dana, when she died in 2006. After intensive work by Pedro Pablo Zegers, curator of the National Library, 250 letters between Gabriel and Doris, written between 1948 and 1956, were published in the letters Wandering Girl, published by Random House-Mondadori and the National Library de Chile.
